It is quite creative to make a 3D leaf font. Students can make it according to the tutorial. The font is still made through layer styles. I believe students can learn more from it and bring inspiration and Innovation is also a good idea for designing this font. It depends on how students define it. Let’s learn it together. I believe you can do better.

2. How to create styles
Step 1
For this step, we will use the brush from the file attached to this tutorial. We only need to change the brush to quickly create text effects, so you don’t need to work hard! But if you want to know how to make this brush, let’s continue!
Go to Edit > Presets > Preset Manager and select Pattern in the drop-down menu. Then click Load… and install the leaf generator texture (inside the zip file). After that select “Brushes” in the drop down menu and load the Leaf Generator Brush – (also in the zip file). We’ll be using the brushes later.
Step 2
Select the Type Tool (T), and set the Font to kingthing and the Font Size to 287 pt. Then see what characters you like to write (western characters are recommended).
Step 3
Double-click the text layer to open the Layer Styles window. Then, add a pattern overlay using the following settings:
Blend Mode: Normal
Opacity: 100%
Mode: Leaf Generator Texture
Zoom: 100%
Link to layer: Open
Step 4
Now, add a gradient overlay using the following settings:
Blending Mode: Overlay

Size:11 pixels
Contour: Linear
Anti-aliasing: Off
Step 7
Add bevel and embossing using the following settings:
Style: Internal bevel
Method: Smooth
Depth: 178%
Direction: Up
Size: 4 pixels
Soften: 6 pixels
Use global light: off
Angle:-135°
Height: 32°
Glossiness: Rolling Slope – Decreasing
Anti-aliasing: On
Highlight mode: Screen
Highlight color: #e1ff90
Highlight Opacity: 31%
Shadow Mode: Dark
Shadow color: #000000
Shadow Opacity: 22%
Step 8
Now click on New Style and save it as Small Leaf. Then, check the Include layer effects and include the Layer blending options boxes, and click OK.
Step 9
Now disable the inner glow and adjust the inner shadow using the following settings:
Blending Mode: Hard Light
Color: #122d02
Opacity: 43%
Use global light: off

Size:42 pixels
Contour: Linear
Step 10
Save the style again by clicking the New Style button, but this time name it “Make Borders Smaller Effect”. After that, click OK to close the Layer Style window.
3. Enter the production effect link
Step 1
This step is to open the action panel, and then create the action, which is the same as the one in the lightning text I posted last time. Here, only the image is attached and not translated, because it doesn’t matter whether the action is recorded or not. Of course, recording actions is just to make the operation faster next time! I am a portal in the last tutorial
Step 2
Rename the text layer to text bkp, and set the text size to 287pt. After that, press ctrl+a to select the entire document. Then, pick the Move Tool (v) and align the layer to the center of the document.
Step 3
Press ctrl+d to delete the selection. After that, press ctrl+j to duplicate the layer. Then, rename the copy to “Base Text”.
Step 4
Right-click the Base Text layer and select Rasterize. Then, go to Window > Styles to open the Styles panel. After that, click on the “Small Leaf” style to apply it on the rasterized layer.
Step 5
Select the Brush Tool (b) and select the Leaves A brush. Then, ctrl+click on the thumbnail of the text’s base layer to create a selection around the text. After that, select the Polygonal Lasso Tool (L) and right-click on the selection and choose Create Work Path. Create a working path with a tolerance of 2.0 px.
Step 6
Make sure to check that the brush opacity and fill are set to 100% before taking the next step.
Go to Window > Paths to open the Paths panel. After that, click on the small icon in the upper right corner of the panel and select “Stroke Path”. Then select Brush on the Tools option, uncheck the Simulate pressure box, and click OK.
Step 7
Now we will create another layer and apply a second stroke to it to make the edges of the text look more realistic. Press ctrl-shift-n to create a new layer, name it “Leaf Border” and click OK. Then, hold down “ctrl” and click on the thumbnail of the “Base Text” layer to create another selection. After that, select the Polygonal Lasso Tool (L) again and create another working path, just like we did before. Be careful not to select the “Base Text” layer on the Layers panel (you must keep the “Leaf Border” layer).
Step 8
Pick the Brush Tool (B) again and select the “Leaf B” brush. Then, go to the Paths panel, right-click on the Work Path, and select Stroke Path, just like we did before.
Step 9
Go to the Paths panel again and delete the Working Paths. Then go to the Styles panel and click on the Make Leaf Border Smaller style to apply it to the border we just created.
Step 10
Now, we need to convert all text layers into a smart object. Hold down the “ctrl” key and click to select the “Text bkp”, “Base Text” and “Leaf Border” layers. Then, right-click on one of them and select Convert to Smart Object. After that, rename the new smart object to “Leaf”.
Step 11
Now we need to add some shadow to the text. Double-click the “Leaves” layer to open the “Layer Style” window. Then, add a drop shadow with the following settings:
Blending Mode: Multiply
Color: #000000
Opacity: 63%
Use global light: off

Use global light: off
Angle: 180°
Distance: 8 pixels
Size: 2 pixels
Contour: Linear
Then click OK to close the Layer Style window.
Step 13
Press ctrl-j to copy the current layer. Then rename the copy to “Leaf Shadow” and change its Fill Opacity to 0%. After that, double-click on the “Leaf Shadow” layer to open the “Layer Styles” panel again. Then, remove the inner shadow filter and edit the drop shadow with the following settings:
Blending Mode: Multiply
Color: #000000
Opacity: 19%
Use global light: off
Angle: 0°
Distance:15 pixels
Expansion: 26%

Step 14
Let’s remove some noise from the texture.
Select the “Leaves” layer and go to “Noise” > “Subtract Noise”.
Use these settings:
Strength:10
Details retained: 11%
Noise reduction: 8%
Sharpen details: 19%
Step 15
The leaves look a little blurry, so let’s add a very subtle sharpening to it. Go to Filters > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen and use the following settings:
Quantity: 66%
Radius: 0.5 pixels
Step 16
Now let’s make the leaves a little greener. We will use a Gradient Map adjustment layer. Select the “Leaves” layer and go to Window > Adjustments. Then click the Create New Gradient icon to create a new gradient map layer.
Step 17
Rename the “Gradient Map” layer to “Leaf Color” and change its Opacity to 50%. After that, right-click on the same layer and select Create Clipping Mask http://www.16xx8.com/tags/38847/. Then double-click its thumbnail to open the Properties panel.
Step 18
Click on the gradient bar and edit it with the following settings:
1st: #031000 Position: 5%
2nd: #054c2b Position: 26%
Third: #106905 Position: 42%
Fourth: #86ff5c Position: 87%
4. Complete the work and add some embellishments
Step 1
Let’s create a very simple shadow underneath the text. Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool (U) and create a black horizontal rectangle directly underneath the “Leaf Shadow” layer.
Step 2
Right-click on the Rounded Rectangle layer and select Convert to Smart Object. Then go to Filter > Gaussian Blur and set it to 6 px. After that, set the opacity of the rounded rectangle layer to 71%.
Step 3
Cut out some leaves and branches from the material pack and place them on top of the text, then snap the bird out and place it where you think is appropriate, and add details.
