The tutorial mainly uses several techniques such as material synthesis, cutout and color adjustment. The materials used in the tutorial have been packaged and downloaded below. If you need to practice, practice below.

Let’s open “Desert.jpg” and crop (16:9)
After opening “Underwater.jpg”, drag it to Desert.jpg, Ctrl+T to adjust the size and position of the underwater layer as shown below
On the underwater layer [New Mask] – click the mask – select [Gradient Tool] – [Black and White Gradient] and erase the image in the direction indicated by the arrow
Ctrl+T on the underwater layer, right-click to transform, and set the water surface deformation slightly. The effect is as shown, you can do as you like
[Polygon Set Lock] tool selects a piece of wave and copies it to the layer to obtain layer 1
Move to the bottom, use [Transform] to adapt to the edge shape, stretch the waves to connect with the top, and finally adjust the [Eraser] to a 300 soft-edged round brush,
Catch the place where the waves connect to the seabed for transition processing
Finally right click – [Merge Down] The big scene is completed
Create a new color adjustment layer, fill with color: RGB (48,65,68), adjust the opacity to 80%, pay attention to the layer order
In the color fill layer, select [Gradient Tool] – Black to Transparent Gradient – Radial Gradient. Pull the gradient as indicated by the arrow to get the bright part of the picture above
Click on the color-filled mask and use ctrl+T to adjust the size and position of the glowing circle
Next, duplicate the Color Fill 1 layer, obtain a copy of Color Fill 1, and set it as the clipping mask of the underwater layer.
Observe, in the color fill layer 1 mask, the black circle is on the right side. Now let’s move it to the left side in the copied layer
Finally, you will see a glowing area in the underwater layer.
Open “Model.jpg”, use [Quick Selection Tool] and [Adjust Edge] to cut out the character, and use a brush to modify the lines of the character on the mask.
Right-click the background copy layer mask and apply mask
Pull the character into “Desert.jpg”, Ctrl+T to adjust the size and position. Use the free lock tool to make a selection of the part of the character in the underwater layer – through the cut layer
First name the layer as follows
Adjust the “Model_Underwater” layer style to Overlay to get the effect below
Create new layer 1 and layer 2 on the background layer. Then select the (235, 220, 197) brush, soft-edged round brush, and paint some tones around the character,
The brush flow of layer 1 (around 50) and the layer transparency (around 45). Layer 2 mainly deepens the tone around the character, so the transparency is not modified
Add a Curves adjustment layer to Model_Desert and lower it slightly
Then click on the mask of the Curves adjustment layer, and use a black brush to draw a few strokes on the character’s arms, abdomen, face and hair edges to increase the brightness
Create a new layer 3 under the underwater layer, select a soft-edged round brush, black, click once, stretch the shadow of the character, and adjust the opacity to 55%
Select the bubbles, and then draw some bubbles around the character. Don’t use too many bubbles. Draw larger bubbles near the character near the water. The brush can be downloaded from the network disk
Pull in the water splash material, adjust the position and use the [Eraser] tool to erase the water splash on the hair, arms and face
Set a clipping mask on the water splash-Hue/Saturation adjustment layer
(This step was adjusted later. The inconsistent effects of the following step diagrams do not hinder the final implementation process)
Duplicate the water splash layer – Ctrl+T and adjust it to be larger than the original water splash layer, then reduce the opacity to 52, and use [Eraser] to erase the excess water splash around it
Open “Water Ripple.jpg”, drag it in, change the layer name to Ripple, and set it to Model_Underwater Clipping Mask.
Modify the layer style of the ripple layer to soft light, as shown below
Create a new layer – Translucent, gradient color: 188,288,231 (i.e. brighter underwater color), select [Gradient Tool] – Radial Gradient, pull out a halo,
Right-click Ctrl+T to transform, stretch it closer to the water surface, and finally adjust the transparency to about 40.
Create a new gradient mapping adjustment layer, select black and white gradient, and select Soft Light as the layer style
Select [Gradient Tool] – Gradient Color: 255,204,162 Radial Gradient, create a new layer and draw a circle at the intersection of the water splash and the water surface, adjust the layer style to Screen Color
Create a Curves adjustment layer
Create a color balance adjustment layer
Make the seagull smaller
Adjust the opacity of the water splash to around 70
Alt+Ctrl+Shift+E Stamp to get layer 3, then copy one more layer 3
Layer 3 copy-layer style is linear light
Filter-Other-High Contrast Preservation-Radius 0.4
That’s it at last!
