Scaling:

zkevm has no privacy. Now when it comes to zkevm, everyone always thinks that it can do all zk applications, has privacy, can make Ethereum faster, and can solve all problems, but it is not. zkevm is a specific application of zk, which is equivalent to packaging all Ethereum transactions. Each time a package is packaged, it will be verified by zk, and then packaged to the chain for block generation and other things on the chain. It can be understood that 10,000 vehicles will be stuck in traffic on the second ring road, but there will be no traffic jam if you take all the people away with a few buses. This is the Scaling part of zk, which is used for expansion and makes Ethereum faster.

But these are still public parts, such as doing verification or other things on it, it is still public, it is more difficult to do zk on it, you can refer to zkSync,Scroll,Polygon Hermez,Starkware,Starknet are all billion-level projects. The main difference between these applications is to discuss which one is more compatible with Ethereum.

Privacy:

Ethereum and other public chains were the first to use ZK for privacy The project is ZCash, which brings out the application scenario, that is, through the Shielded Pool, one’s own ZEC token can be turned into a private ZEC, and the user will not see the transaction address in the process of transferring money to others.

Manta has done a similar thing based on ZCash, which can turn all tokens into private tokens, and all private tokens can also be transferred. It is equivalent to an extra layer of application scenarios. For the projects after Manta, some layer2s made on Ethereum, including various new public chains, now in addition to turning all tokens into privacy tokens, they can also do various contract interactions based on these privacy, with more Many privacy scenes.

The current blockchain has no privacy, including chatting with Vitalik. Although he himself pins his hopes on Ethereum, there is still no way to achieve privacy. The core purpose of everyone is all layer2 Or apps can implement privacy. However, there is little chance for the application to do privacy, and the resistance of layer2’s surveillance will be better and more flexible.
