I wrote an article before that also talked about the 3D model of AD:

The introduction is to use the functions that come with AD Draw a 3D model, but the shape drawn in this way is not very good-looking. If you import the CAD graphics of the components, the 3D display effect will be better. The following figure is the component of the 3D model imported from the STEP file:
This is very beautiful. When we finish drawing the PCB, we can use 3D View to visually check whether the components are placed correctly, whether there is any horizontal conflict or vertical conflict, and it is for PCB design and production. Provide a good reference.
How to make this kind of 3D model? I don’t talk about CAD drawings, so I have to search online. Fortunately, there is a website that provides 3D resources of many components: http://www.3dcontentcentral.cn/default.aspx, you can directly search for the package or name of components, for example :
I searched for the 0805 package, and then I found a lot of 0805 3D models. Then choose a suitable model to download the STEP file:
When you get the STEP file, you can import it to the package of the component, and place the 3D Body (shortcut key PB) on the package of the component:
Select “Generic 3DModel” and click “Load from file” below to select the downloaded STEP file. After clicking OK, adjust the position of the 3D Body so that the 3D model and the pads correspond to each other. (Tips: Press number key 2 to switch to 2D display, press number key 3 to switch to 3D display)
Download a few more models to try the effect:
